Molasses Doughnuts


  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp soft butter
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup Fancy Molasses
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cinnamon


  1. Cream sugar and butter together. Add milk, eggs and Fancy Molasses. Mix well. In a separate bowl, mix and sift remaining ingredients. Add to liquid mixture and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate for 1½ hours, then turn out on a slightly floured board and roll to ½" thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter.
  2. Fry in deep hot fat at 375°F until golden brown. Sprinkle with sugar.
