Gingerbread with Fresh Fruit

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup shortening
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup Fancy Molasses
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 1½ tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions:

  1. Mix together shortening, sugar and egg. Blend in Fancy Molasses and water. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into wet mix, beating until smooth.
  2. Pour into 9" square pan and bake at 325°F for 40 to 50 minutes.
