  • 3 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1½ cups shortening

  1. Sift all dry ingredients into a large bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or fork as for pastry.
  2. Store in refrigerator.
  3. When ready to use, spoon 2 7/8 cups of mix into a bowl (spoon lightly).
  4. In another bowl mix beaten egg, Fancy Molasses and boiling water. Stir wet ingredients into dry and beat until smooth.
  5. Bake in greased 9" square pan for 35 minutes at 325°F.

Please note: This recipe is for a ready-made gingerbread mix. When preparing gingerbread, please ensure only 2 7/8 cups of the combined dry ingredients and shortening is used. The quantities of molasses, egg and water noted will not work with the entire portion of dry ingredients.
