Date and Nut Bread

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1½ whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup melted shortening
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • ½ cup Fancy Molasses
  • ½ cup chopped dates
  • ½ cup chopped nuts


  1. Sift flour, salt and baking soda, add whole wheat flour and sugar. Combine wet ingredients. Add dates and nuts into dry mixture. Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until all the flour has been moistened. Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake at 325°F for 1 hour
